Jay and I got up early and set out for our raft expedition of the famous Napali Coast. This stretch of the coast can only be accessed by hiking, helicopter, or boat. There are no roads for automobiles. The landscape is supposed to be breathtaking. It started out wonderful, having the opportunity to snorkel, view sea turtles out in the middle of the ocean, and the dolphins who served to be the best part of the trip! The downside to adventures such as these in Oct is that the seasons/tides begin to change. It was unfortunate that the wind and waves picked up. The closer we got to the tip of the Napali Coast, the worse the sea grew, the harder you had to hold on, and the more nauseated you became. We were experiencing 22 knot winds and swells reaching 8-10 feet. Might I remind you we were in a RAFT! The wind and waves were expected to worsen the closer we got to the tip of where the Napali Coast begins. We already had a man hanging over the raft with seasickness, and likely more would follow. It was unfortunate, yet unanimous, that it was best to turn back. We got our trip fully refunded, so at least we got a free adventure out of it.

After our attempted tour, we met up with the family at the Grand Hayatt where they were shopping and having lunch with our Canadian friends. The hotel has beautiful grounds which we enjoyed touring.

Since the expedition ended early, we didn't get our lunch, so on our way back to the condo, we stopped at the famous "shimp truck" which we'd been hearing great reviews.
Once we returned to the condo, Jay took our nephews to the local beach. Then that evening we enjoyed an early celebration of Canadian Thanksgiving with the Priauxs. Jen made homemade tacos which were a delicious treat!

How cool that you did a raft excursion. We did helicopter, but raft sounds really cool!!! Glad you had such a great trip!
