a birthday at the spa

Just a few days after arriving home from Hawaii, I was surprised with a birthday vacation with my mom. We stayed at the Ayres Hotel close to The Block. On our way there, we stopped in Old Town Orange for shopping. Then after checking into our hotel, we headed to The Block for dinner and a movie. The movie we wanted to see was showing too late, so we decided to see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. This was a favorite book of mine growing up, so I was excited to see the movie. Chocolate and champagne were an added treat awaiting us when we got back along with my mom's favorite book.

The next day we spend at Burke Williams Spa. I enjoyed a spa bath and facial and soaking in the pools. It was a great time relaxing as well as spending time with my mom after our long vacation.

Then we had dinner reservations at Zov's Restaurant.

so many choices of Greek foods
our delicious dinner
I didn't waste any time diggin' in
don't forget the birthday dessert

the moon from our hotel room

The cross at the Crystal Cathedral.

We got a great view from our room of the fireworks at Disneyland.

After checking out the next day, we headed out to a local market where our friend gave us word they had our favorite Jonathan apples. We stocked up since they've been harder to find lately in the stores out here.

Mom and Dad had planned a wonderful surprise. We hope to do more spa weekends in the future for those "big" birthdays!
