Day 13 cont.
So after our AWESOME LOST tour, we decided to have some lunch. We got a tip from our tour guide to try "The Counter" located at the mall near Diamond Head. The Counter is a custom built gourmet hamburgers restaurant that is partially owned by Daniel Dae Kim also know as Jin on LOST. The restaurant has many LOST sightings. It was a delicious LOST treat.
They're making my chocolate malt
Local soda (awesome!)
My custom built birthday burger with avocado and gruyere cheese.
We've got full tummies
We also learned from our tour guide that they're some other LOST locations near Diamond Head. We needed internet access to find these locations so instead of paying internet fees at our hotel, we hit the Apple store at the mall. We were there for at least 30 minutes researching and writing down address locations (we brought a our GPS) without any employee checking in for assistance. Then we checked out a few nearby locations.
First off the Hawaiian Film Studio
They're many episode scenes filmed here. We tried to get some pictures without security coming after us.
production offices
We found where they store the props not always protected since many are outside behind a studio building
Later that afternoon we headed to Punchbowl National Cemetery to go pay a visit to "John and Vee" dear friends of the family. We got to visit here on our honeymoon too! Punchbowl is a beautiful location.
spectacular views
Diamond Head in the background
on our way back we drove by the Hawaiian Convention Center another location site for LOST. I'll share more about this place in another post.
We then met up with Matt and Julie who were on their honeymoon in Oahu. They took me out to Shore Bird Restaurant for my birthday dinner. Jay and I also went her for breakfast buffet on our honeymoon.
On our way to dinner Happy 30th! (the BIG 30!)
beautiful birthday sunset
I couldn't have asked for a better birthday!
